Evolution
Human Factor was conceived in 1994 at a Korg X3 keyboard in a practice studio at the Berklee College of Music. Even the low-end Korg could align notes precisely (quantize) and notes could be aligned to less than 100% of perfect quantization in order to preserve a touch of humanity – defined as “humanizing” the tune. Then applying Moore’s law, it was easy to see that music could become a domain of computer geeks rather than composers, musicians, and other artists.
We established Human Factor and Human Factor’s law – music must originate from the human, rather than the other way around. Of course, we have always taken full advantage of state-of-the-art software, but we put it in the hands of gifted musicians who always begin with the organic. So, we make our music for humans whether it is to be heard in the listener’s house, a club, a car, a first run movie theater, La Scala, or a Bolivian village.
In the beginning some music industry critics said we were too varied and left of center. Good thing we didn't believe them because versatility is the reason our business is booming. Our versatility, our humanity, allows us to find a unique sound for every client, making their projects stand out.
